The exclusive location of the El Tancat estate with its impressive architectural ensemble, combined with the peacefulness and elegance of the Priorat countryside provided the perfect setting for the performance of the music group BandaÈria last Saturday, the 24th of November, at an event organised by the Priorat Centre d’Art.
Defined by its members as a “wind band with its own voice”, the group stands out for its original musical philosophy based on musical appearances in unique public spaces. To accomplish these performances, the band’s director and composer, Xavier Maristany, goes to the event site beforehand in order to capture its essence and write the most suitable score.Once the music has been composed, the members of the group –six magnificent wind musicians– get in touch with local music associations to encourage them to collaborate in the event. The end result is very special, unique and one-of-a-kind performances.
On this occasion, BandaÈria appeared in conjunction with musicians from the Vila-seca Conservatory.At 12.30 a.m., all the different components began an acoustic performance at various locations throughout the Masia Duch installations, with a set that combined Catalan instrumentation with contemporary music. The more than 300 guests at the event were able to enjoy the beauty of the interior and exterior spaces of El Tancat, discovering them to the contagious rhythm set by the band.
After the performance, the attendees had the chance to share in refreshments accompanied by the excellent Bressol 2000, one of Masia Duch’s most internationally recognised wines. A perfect epilogue to a fascinating day for the senses: an incomparable scenic setting, a very attractive musical performance and an extraordinary pleasure for the palate.
