Organoleptic features

Grenache: this wine reaches a perfect balance between the elegance of Priorat’s typical grenache grape and the velvety and slightly toasted tannins of the oak barrels.

The scents of the wild and aromatic plants surrounding the vineyard (thyme, rosemary, lavender…) prevail in the wine.

It is characterized by a deep red colour with shaded traces caused by its settling in the barrel.

Cabernet sauvignon: the strength and power of this variety matured under quite dry conditions is traced by being poured into a large barrel with vanilla notes. The result is a powerful but velvety wine, of a deep red colour and long taste on the palate, in which ripe fruit scents prevail.

Merlot: grapes which, because of their own features, provide a balance both with the grenache and the cabernet sauvignon grapes during the coupage, increasing the quality of these two varieties.

Production area Located in Priorat’s central part and in the very Montsant Natural Reserve.

In the town of Morera de Montsant, not far away from Escaladei’s centre and its 12th C. Santa Maria Carthusian monastery.
Height above sea level: 420 m.

type of soil80% of the typical shale hillsides (llicorella).
20% of hard limestone terrains.

ClimatologyCold and dry winter which preceeds a mild spring with plenty of rain, which turns into a dry summer with high temperatures, favouring an excellent ripening.

VinificationGrenache, cabernet sauvignon and merlot grapes: by means of a long maceration. 19, 20 days with two temperature control stages; a first stage with a temperature of between 28 – 29 degrees, and a second stage with a temperature of approximately 24 degrees.

AgeingGrenache wine: 75% of French oak barrels and 25% of American oak barrels for 14 months.

Cabernet Sauvignon: 50% of French oak barrels and 50% of American oak barrels for 12 months and depending on the quality of the vintage.
