The design of the grape harvest: the pruning

Past Christmas time, when all terrestrial energy is about to spring, the old fertile lands resuscitate and life starts again.

The leaf buds spread all over the plants need a spectacular pruning in terms of selection. It is a master work completely carried out manually by experienced hands that program and draw the shape of the vines.

One by one they become lightened of later buds in an accurate reckoning of vine shoots. The licorella gets the excised buds that are not included in the final production method and are recycled as manure or burnt in the traditional calçotades (spring onion barbecue meetings), for which vine shoots are the best type of firewood.

Once again, the teams of people specialized in pruning, coming from various places, greet the plants they know from past years, and their knowledge of them guarantees a traditional plant excise as well as some background training the firm provides year after year. People and vines live together for days, until the pruning season, which inexorably gets closer in time, arrives, and the reunion is even more merry.

In Viticulture, checking the work is well done is a privilege of those who, anonymously, will enable us to enjoy this luxury for our palate.
