During the Priorat’s traditional vine growing history there have always lacked innovatory elements which succeeded in getting soft shale, divided up into scales, to give its best grape producing quality.
The vine trellising achieves it: airs the crops and gets them to be grazed by the sun in a smooth way. One can only notice it some time after the trellising action, but it can be noticed. The effort made causes an increase of attributes in the growing which compensates by far the raising of the plant.
The vintage already started when we selected the base and clone appropriate for the soil variety, where, deep down, plant roots have to reach the hydraulic seams, distributed every few metres. In 1985 several tests were made in order to find the appropriate base for an exquisite vine to be planted, but never questioning the plant’s quality.
Frequently checked out, the plant’s equilibrium is obvious and, at the beginning of summer time, the vine rows sketch a neat care, premonitory of an excellent harvest. |
