On title deeds from the 19th century, «El Tancat» comes out as the name of the manor which approximately corresponds to Masia Duch’s current domain, although it has been registered since 1118.
Once recovered from neglect in 1985, a part of Masia Duch’s two-hundred hectares was planted in 1987, taking special care in keeping the locations and in avoiding land digging, all with the principle of being respectful with the Priorat’s landscapes.
«El Tancat» harness the region of the Priorat’s paleozoic llicorelles with naturally-fertilized cultivated lands and with treatments such as the Bordeaux broth and sulphur, with the aim of obtaining ecological-natured wines. The region’s 15ºC annual average temperature is the scenery for grenache, cabernet sauvignon and merlot wines, origin of or wines el Tancat and Bressol, produced since 1989.
The main feature of Masia Duch’s wines is the elaboration of our own, only and exclusively with grapes from the manor, which guarantees a production of the same nature year after year, only increased in relation to the quality of the grapes.
The inner part of the constructions in Masia Duch’s complex lodges the latest oenologic techniques. It is where it is taken care of the wine’s maturing process under extreme control conditions, and it is the cradle of the bottles waiting to be opened with guaranteed reliability.
This certificate is what guarantees our superior wines, authentic «Priorats», with our compromise with our decision to elaborate wine in a conscious and thorough manner, as homage to those people from the 12th century, when all was started. |
